Twenty-two- year-old, Ash-Jay found it challenging to be in group environments and often found himself not taking part in activities.
When Ash-Jay met with Alison, his employment advisor from CMT Services, he started to look for ways to move forward.
Alison introduced Ash-Jay to CMT Services’ in-house health and wellbeing sessions and encouraged him to access help through his GP.
Seetec work in partnership with CMT Services to deliver the Restart Scheme in Taunton.
Determined to make changes, Ash-Jay started attending the wellbeing sessions and also accessed talking therapies via his GP.
Sight set on finding a job
He continued attending one-to-one sessions with Alison and group training sessions at the CMT Services offices in Taunton.
In the space of just four months, Ash-Jay found himself sitting alongside others in groups and fully taking part in activities too.
Now full of self-belief and confidence, Ash-Jay had his sight set on finding a job.
Interviews started to roll in
Ash-Jay became a regular at job-club sessions and took the opportunity to actively apply for jobs.
When the interviews started to roll in, Ash-Jay was supported by Alison with practicing his interview skills.
Ash-Jay’s efforts soon paid off as he received a job offer from a well-known supermarket, he was thrilled!
Absolutely delighted
Alison tells us; “When I first met Ash-Jay, he was in a mentally challenging place.”
She continues; “It was difficult for him to imagine he could be confident enough to hold down a job, but with our support Ash-Jay has gradually built his confidence.”
The CMT Services team are absolutely delighted to have supported Ash-Jay with finding a job.
I was afraid of losing everything I knew
Reflecting on his journey, Ash-Jay tells us; “Back in January, I was at my lowest point and I was afraid of losing everything I knew.”
He continues; “Over several months, I’ve gained back my confidence and have a support system that doesn’t give up on me.”
Ash-Jay describes improvements in his personal life too; “I am now in a good relationship where my boyfriend has supported me.”
Praising CMT Services, he says; “A massive thank you to the Restart Scheme for all their help and support.”
