When Alison joined the Torbay Work and Health Programme (WHP) she felt uncertain about her employment prospects and was in need of sector-specific training, structure and guidance.

She met with Morwenna, her employment adviser at the time and they built a structured SMART action plan.

SMART action plans consist of specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and timely actions to help the participant achieve their goals.

Smart Goals = Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, TimelyCrucial confidence booster

On Morwenna’s recommendation, Alison completed several employability training modules including:

  • Writing an effective CV
  • Cover letter
  • Interviews techniques
  • The hidden jobs market

Alison also completed a Level 1 certificate in employability and labels it as a crucial confidence booster as it equipped her with the skills to find work.

Alison tells us; “Morwenna’s support was instrumental in helping me understand and prepare for the job market.”

With her employability foundations set, Alison was keen to obtain sector-specific training for the education sector.

Morwenna introduced Alison to Aspire Education and Alison went on to complete NCFE CACHE Level 2 training with Aspire Education.

Describing her tutor at Aspire Education as ‘exceptionally supportive’, Alison knew that the qualifications made her more competitive in the employment pool.

Maintaining momentum

At this stage Morwenna transitioned away from Seetec and was introduced to her new employment adviser, Amber.

Alison says; “Amber helped me to maintain the momentum. Her support and encouragement were vital in me securing my current position.”

Alison is now working with Teacher Active, an opportunity she has found through Aspire Education.

Excited about her future

She tells us; “This success is a testament to the power of dedicated support and quality education in transforming lives.”

Alison is grateful for the support that she has had on WHP and is excited about her future and confident that she will thrive in her new role.

Employment adviser, Amber says; “It was a pleasure to watch Alison’s journey on WHP, her confidence grew with every appointment!”

She continues; “She is now working for Teacher Active and continues to complete her training through us at Seetec.”

Keep up the fantastic work Alison!
